The Bytel Position Monitor (BPM) was originally designed to monitor and control irrigation pivots and this page focuses on that application. There is an alternate page bytel.com/bpMonitor which deals with a less specific BPM System. One or more Masters (shown above) allows an operator to remotely control and monitor one to eight field sites 24-hours per day, 365-days per year. The irrigation monitoring BPMs are firmware tailored to provide the operator with real time information as it occurs or at the touch of a Polling button the entire system is debriefed.
As a irrigation monitor system it is simple, yet highly effective.
The host unit can be transportable allowing the operator to stay aware of the status of his or her pivots from the Pick-Up (with horn alert), within the footprint of the radio system.

Benefits
Easy and
inexpensive to install. Does not require a computer to operate. The
system uses simple two-way radio technology.
Reduces time
spent "driving the sites" to manually monitor functions.
Provides immediate shut-down notification in the event of malfunction without requiring personnel to visit the
site or perform any manual operations.
If one of the pivot being monitored needs to be shut down, an operator can press the appropriate button and that pivot can be killed. This comes in handy when a flash storm comes up unexpectedly.
The BPM host
can be expanded to fit customer expansion requirements, providing enhanced capabilities
and additional field units within the range of one to eight and beyond.
When irrigation season is over it can stand guard monitoring the grain bin fans or other high value tasks around an agg enterprise. The Bytel host and field units as best thought of as a
controlled loop for manipulating virtually any remote field equipment.
Operations
The BPM Master(s) have an internals beeper that sound when a field pivot starts or stops and an output relay that fires in sequence with the sounder. Pressing the "Ack" (acknowledge) button stops the sounder and relay, and up-dates the status lights to reflect the pivot's running or stopped state.
The BPM Master can also stop the Pivot. by pressing the appropriate number any wheel can be taken off line. This comes in handy in the middle of the night, when you want to stop a pivot .
