THE CLIENT:
SID RICHARDSON GASOLINE
| |
Richardson, through 1,500 miles of gas gathering
pipelines connected to approximately 1,000 producing wells, processes natural gas
throughout Texas and Southern New Mexico. |
|
THE SITUATION:
| |
EGMs (Electronic Gas Meters) at wellheads were not equipped
with radio communications to get information back to the office on a timely basis. |
There are no limits on what
we can do now with the current technology of communicating information across a radio
network, Richardsons Williams says, Our people are now routinely
handling this new system. In the next phase of our modernization project, well be
able to go to our producers and say, Heres what were going to offer you
as far as providing you information. If you want to monitor tank levels or pressures,
heater treater temperatures, or other fluid levels, then heres what it will cost you
to get the information from our metering facility.
Bruce Williams, manager
of gas contracts and information services for Richardson.
|
|
Richardson was faced with losing a large contract if EGMs did not provide better
information. |
|
No licenses available for MAS (Multiple Address Systems) frequencies in West Texas and
Southern New Mexico. |
THE SOLUTION:
| |
Bytel installed 800 MHz Motorola trunking system for radio network. |
|
Bytels TDM provided the communication link between the EGM at the remote site and
the field office. |
|
Bytel developed a TDM small enough to fit inside the very small EGM used by Richardson. |
PRESENTLY:

| |
Initial phase of Richardsons project for remote well-head
monitoring successfully completed with 190 TDMs installed on system. |
|
150 additional TDMs will be installed during 1998. |
