Water/Waste-Water Treatment Using Bytel Trunking Data Modems for Remote Communications

THE SITUATION:

City needed to improve and increase monitoring for water/waste-water facilities.

City owned a Motorola SmartNet trunk system.

City Council did not want to authorize purchase of new Motorola Jedi radios for police and fire departments because of overall budget constraints.

Bytel Trunking Data Modems Improve Waste-water Communications

THE SOLUTION:

Bytel demonstrated that TDM’s would work with the City’s SmartNet radio network for water/waste-water communications.

Bytel suggested using the City’s existing Motorola “classic-style” radios for data application in TDM’s.

City Council approved purchase of new Jedi radios for police and fire departments as a result of being able to use their existing radio equipment in a new application.

30 Bytel TDM’s provide communications link between the remote terminal units at water treatment sites and the City’s water department offices.
