Remote Monitoring Unit

remote-monitoring-unit.jpg (15212 bytes)The benefits of Bytel's Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) are simple - it provides wireless, high-speed monitoring and control with existing radio systems, EFMs and/or SCADA equipment. Installation and configuration is fast, flexible, and best of all, the RMU provides the lowest cost available for remote monitoring.

The RMU is designed with advanced messaging protocol that allows many different applications to share a single radio channel. Collision avoidance is an integral part of the protocol. Each RMU is given a unique address which is hard coded into its microprocessor. The RMU may be polled using its address to recover all or a selected portion of the current data.

The RMU reports a change of state for up to 12 discrete inputs and allows control of 4 discrete outputs. When a change of state occurs, a report is sent with repeated retries until acknowledged.

The RMU has 8 12-bit analog inputs. Analog thresholds are programmed into the RMU specifying high and low setpoints. If an analog value is outside the high or low setpoints, a report is generated.

An RS-232 port is used as the primary communications port with the versatility of interfacing to radio, cellular or phone line modems. Additionally, the unit features low power consumption, is very compact in size and interfaces with phoenix style connectors for easy installation.

Bytel offers Field Gateway and Dataview software for the RMU. Drivers are available to interface with other software packages.
