The Bytel Trunking Data
Modem (TDM) is designed to operate efficiently and transparently on trunked radio
networks. The Bytel system makes it easy to automate remote functions without the
recurring costs of telephone or cellular circuits or the licensing restrictions of most
other radio technologies. The TDM can be used on Motorola Privacy Plus,
Motorola Smartnet and LTR trunking networks as well as conventional radio systems.Uses
for the TDM are numerous and flexible. It is ideal for data collection from electronic
flow computers on pipelines, wells or process control units. The TDM can be used to
control devices such as pumps, valves or traffic signals. Other uses include status
and alarm monitoring of reservoirs, security systems, irrigation systems and water and
waste-water systems.
The TDM can provide discrete and analog monitoring and directly control functions. Each
modem provides a discrete interface of 16 inputs or outputs to pull relays, monitor
switches or to interface with other electronic equipment.
All data collection software programs utilizing RTS/CTS signaling can be used with the
TDM. Bytel software programs are available to provide user interface and control of
alarms. This software can also monitor applications, and displays status and control
functions in DOS or Microsoft Windows environments.
The TDM has received certification to be used in hazardous locations. The modem meets
Class 1, Division 2, Groups A,B,C and D standards.
